High above the twisted roofs, Where Oliver speaks his truths
Crawling through the city's lungs, Where the smoke and secrets hum
Every chimney tells a tale, Of the families without fail
Soot and ash beneath his nails, Each dark story that he's scaled
Up and down the narrow flue, Seeing what the rich folk do
Through their secret smoke and rue
Freeze the chimney, sweeps him by, Dancing through their secret scene
Every house's hidden shame, Whispered through the chimney's flame
In his vertical comedy
Dolls arranged in perfect rows, While the master's temper grows
Tea parties and crystal tears, Echo down through all the years
Does he climb to find the sky ? Or just to hear the wealthy cry ?
In these towers made of brick, Every secret makes him sick
He's the chimney sweep symphony, Rising from their hypocrisy
Though his hands are black with grime, He can see their every crime
From his sooty balcony
Sunrise paints the chimney tops, Where Oliver's journey stops
Clean flues and dirty souls, Some things can't be made whole
Down from heights to earth below, Some secrets only sweeps can know
